Special Projects
The Special Projects unit is dedicated to coordinating community events and cultivating partnerships with local agencies, with a particular emphasis on outreach and special projects that fall outside the purview of our general advocacy units.

- Community Outreach and Education: Organizes events, workshops, and campaigns to raise awareness about legal rights, resources, and support available to community members within our service areas.
- Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations: Develops and strengthens relationships with local agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations to expand access to legal services, share resources, and create more comprehensive support systems for individuals in need.
- Managing Special Legal Projects: Leads and executes initiatives that address specific legal issues or gaps in services that fall outside the scope of the organization’s general advocacy work, such as providing legal assistance to unique populations or focusing on emerging legal challenges.

The following types of cases may be handled:
Criminal Expungements or Sealing
Assisting individuals in clearing or sealing criminal records to improve their access to employment, housing, and other opportunities, particularly for those with prior convictions related to minor offenses or those seeking a fresh start.
Victim Rights Advocacy
Representing victims of crimes in navigating their rights, including assistance with obtaining protective orders, accessing victim compensation, or advocating for appropriate services and accommodations in the criminal justice system.
Disability Rights Advocacy
Providing legal counsel for individuals with disabilities seeking accommodations in housing, employment, or public services, ensuring that they are not discriminated against and have access to their full rights under the law.
Outreach Events and Legal Clinics
Organizing community outreach events and legal clinics to provide free legal advice, information, and resources to underserved populations. This includes offering on-site consultations, workshops, and educational sessions on topics like tenant rights, family law, or criminal record expungement.
