Housing Stability Assistance

Gulfcoast Legal Services (GLS) provides free housing legal assistance to low-income clients and to seniors 60 and older without regard to income levels. The following types of cases may be handled:

  • Predatory Lending
  • Housing Discrimination/Fair Housing
  • Eviction
  • Foreclosure
  • Landlord/Tenant Disputes
  • Subsidized Housing Matters
  • Public Housing or Subsidized Housing Preservation
  • Section 8 Housing
  • Mobile Home Park Eviction Defense
  • Mobile Home Park Closing
✔ If your landlord refuses to make necessary repairs to your rental property to ensure your safety and security, GLS can intervene.

✔ If you are behind on your mortgage payments or have already received foreclosure papers, we may be able to help you find a workable solution. GLS can help you fight a mortgage foreclosure of your homestead property and/or help you with a mortgage restructure or modification negotiation with your bank or other lender.

✔ If you have been denied housing or treated unfairly because of your age, race, religion, marital/family status, or disability, GLS can help. We enforce fair housing laws through the legal process.

✔ If your landlord engaged in prohibited conduct (such as locking you out or having the electricity or water shut off to make you leave) in the course of an eviction, GLS may be able to delay the eviction process or stop it altogether.

✔ If you have lost income due to COVID-19 and are facing an eviction, GLS may be able to delay the eviction process or stop it altogether while helping you obtain direct rental assistance to pay back rent.
GLS Housing Services are funded in part by the Manatee County Community Development Block Grant program.
