CHANGING LIVES THROUGH JUSTICE

Clients are welcome in the GLS offices if they have scheduled an appointment with their GLS attorney or paralegal. Appointments will be scheduled only when absolutely necessary to help reduce risk of transmission. The best way to get help is still to fill out an online application and wait for a paralegal to contact you.

*A Note on the Eviction Moratorium 7/31/2020*

The eviction moratorium has been extended until the end of August.

However, evictions can be filed in Florida. The new order merely suspends the “final action” at the end of an eviction case if the tenant was affected by COVID.

What this most likely means is that evictions will be filed, eviction final orders will be granted against tenants, but the writ of possession (removing the tenant from the dwelling) won’t happen until August 31, 2020, but only if the tenant couldn’t pay rent and this inability to pay was caused by the pandemic.
